Tomintoul has a post office and various local shops with cash point and pub on the square.

Tomintoul Gallery next door is owned by your hosts, and offers a variety of art and crafts by local artists. There is the ubiquitous whiskey shop, the Whisky Castle, and there is a local bus service to Elgin on a Tuesday, and one to Keith on a Thursday where further shops can be found.

For eating out locally there is the Glenavon Hotel in Tomintoul which serves good pub food and also the Clockhouse Restaurant in the Square which has excellent daytime and evening menus and also a does a carryout meal service 4.30pm to 6.00pm daily.

The Richmond Arms also offers bar meals either in the dining room or both public bars. The Old Fire Station tea room offers fresh baked bread throughout the day.

There are several other restaurants in the area – some further afield such as Andersons in Boat of Garten, the Mountview Hotel in Nethybridge and the Delnashaugh Hotel at Ballindalloch amongst many others. Booking is recommended for most.
